IowaFRW Hosts Day of Action on the Hill for Members, Guests

DES MOINES (Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022)The Iowa Federation of Republican Women will host its annual Legislative Day on Wednesday, March 23, for all members and guests. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Republican Party of Iowa headquarters in downtown Des Moines and conclude under the golden domes of the Iowa Capitol that afternoon.

“Coming together for Legislative Day is an important way Republican Women connect with and influence our legislators. It’s a huge benefit of membership,” said IowaFRW President Barbara Hames-Bryant of Cedar Rapids. “Our great Governor Kim Reynolds will again address our group and Iowa’s only female Speaker of the House, Linda Upmeyer, will serve as guest emcee for the day.”

Kathy Pearson, IowaFRW Legislative Chair from Cedar Rapids, added, “The IowaFRW Legislative Day gives Republican women from across the state the opportunity to take action and make an impact on top legislative priorities including tax cuts, worker shortage and school reform, by meeting with, and being briefed directly by, their legislators.”

The day begins at RPI Headquarters with registration at 9:30 a.m. and opening remarks by Hames-Bryant at 10 a.m. The group will meet with Republican elected officials throughout the morning and over lunch and then move to the Capitol at 2 p.m.

“Policy-wise, Iowa is on the right track, but the federal government is not,” Hames-Bryant said. “Federated Republican Women clubs all over Iowa are motivated. We’re eager to get more conservatives elected this fall, and take back the U.S. Senate and House.”

Cost is $20 and all members are asked to wear red.
