Delegates Select GOP President and VP Nominees July 15-18

(THURSDAY, MAY 30, 2024) – Sixteen Iowa Federation of Republican Women members will serve as delegates and alternate delegates to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee July 15-18 to represent Iowa in formally nominating the president and vice president of the United States on the Republican ticket. While the presumptive presidential nominee is Donald J. Trump, the former president has yet to name a running mate.

“It is an honor to represent Iowa as a delegate at the Republican National Convention, especially alongside IowaFRW sisters,” said IowaFRW President Michelle Crawford, from Scott County, a first-time national delegate. “We are thrilled that our members are so actively engaged that they’re proudly representing our state at convention.”

IowaFRW members who are delegates and alternate delegates are (in alphabetical order): Attorney General Brenna Bird; Rachel Cadena; Darla Chappel; Michelle Crawford; Gwen Ecklund; Rep. Cindy Golding; Debra Heldt; Tracee Knapp; Kelley Koch; Jeanita McNulty; Rep. Anne Osmundson; Teresa Paulsrud; Starlyn Perdue; Governor Kim Reynolds; Tamara Scott; Linda Upmeyer.

“I am excited to represent Iowa at this convention as one of the at-large alternates and be a part of this step in taking our country back from the liberal craziness that we have been forced to live through recently,” said Gwen Ecklund, a two-time former IowaFRW president from Crawford County. “I have participated in several RNC conventions as a guest over the years and attended National Federation of Republican Women events held during convention. In addition to official convention duties this year, I will attend the NFRW and Maggie’s List events,” said Ecklund, who also serves at Maggie’s List Iowa director.

The Republican National Convention, run by the Republican National Committee (RNC), has been held every four years since 1856. This year the RNC is expecting 50,000 guests in Milwaukee, including the delegates. Thousands of delegates and alternates are selected by all 56 states and territories.

The Iowa Federation of Republican Women, founded in Tama County in 1939, unites the voices and values within the Republican Party.
