Republicans, Many Federation Members, Sweep Elections

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022) – The Iowa Federation of Republican Women celebrates the red wave which swept across Iowa on Tuesday and congratulates all the candidates and their families.

“Winning of course feels great. We are grateful and we are gratified, but what happened Tuesday is not about winning a fight, it’s about a fight for freedom,” IowaFRW President Barbara Hames-Bryant said in a statement today. “What’s been happening for the past two years has brought us as a nation to a new low in terms of liberty, security, and leadership. We came to a place in history where there was no choice but to rise up and say enough is enough. Iowans have spoken and freedom is the winner.”

Iowa conservatives held their seats in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, as well as winning U.S. House District 3, and re-electing our great governor, the first female governor in the state. Iowans also voted overwhelmingly to approve the ballot measure which preserves our right to keep and bear arms.

“With pleasure and optimism, we congratulate Senator Chuck Grassley, Governor Kim Reynolds, Congresswomen Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Congressman-Elect Zach Nunn, as well as all victors in state and local races throughout Iowa,” Hames-Bryant remarked. “And for those GOP friends who did not win their races, we respect you and thank you for stepping up and joining the fight.”

The Federation is a powerful, influential coalition of hard-working women and men, Hames-Bryant continued. “Not only do we support GOP incumbents and political hopefuls, many of the candidates themselves are members of IowaFRW. Candidates understand the tangible benefits of membership and solid strength within our statewide organization.”
